Danse Arts Company (“DAC”) was founded in 2006 as a nonprofit organization designed to provide young artists of all disciplines (such as dancers, singers, actors, or painters) a place to enjoy, grow, and develop their talents. In addition, DAC strives to make the arts both interesting and accessible to the public. DAC is the vision of its Artistic Director, Leah Cordiano-Siemens, who is also the owner and director of Wildwood Dance & Arts (a teaching studio). From a young age, Leah knew she wanted to run a touring company and own her own dance studio. During college she also realized that she had a talent for and a love of teaching. By bringing her desires and talents together with much hard work, she has been able to fulfill her childhood dream and share her experiences with others. Initially, Leah created a performance group within Wildwood Dance & Arts. The group started with only 3 dancers doing small shows at the mall and other local venues. As the group began to grow in number and in performance requests, Leah saw an opportunity to turn the group into a nonprofit company that could foster education and appreciation of the arts in a greater audience. Now, only three short years after its inception, the pre-professional performance group is a nonprofit organization with 25 dancers performing two full-scale productions each year. DAC’s annual Winter Extravaganza is presented in collaboration with the West County YMCA-Chesterfield Community Theatre. As a result of this collaboration, DAC is able to give back to the community in two ways: by presenting a spectacular show in a professional setting; and by assisting the YMCA with its fundraising. In addition to the two major productions each year, the DAC performers show off their talents at local fairs, Family Fun Days, and community events, such as Ballwin Days, Chesterfield Art’s Art in the Park, and Wildwood Days. They participate in parades such as Creve Coeur Days and Ballwin Days. Several times a year, DAC is asked to perform and teach at various youth, Girl Scout, and Boy Scout events. DAC currently consists of three levels of performers: ProTrack I, II, and III. Performers range in age from eight to eighteen. These artists audition each year for placement in the company, with results based on technique and performance. Throughout the year, each level of the company trains with dance and art courses each week. They spend many hours fine-tuning their craft. Training and preparation of performance pieces continues over the summer with week-long intensive camps and rehearsals. DAC Directors, choreographers, and instructors are chosen for their love of the arts, their dedication to education, and their desire to instill an appreciation for the process in which the dancer/artist learns and performs his/her craft. Through those building blocks, the Directors of DAC hope to expand in the future to include singers, actors, an art gallery, and a professional production company. With attention to aesthetic staging, beautiful choreography, and talented performers, the Danse Arts Company intends to grow and produce exciting, enticing, and extravagant works of art for all to see. Truly a dream come true, the Danse Arts Company will… Perform Life. |
